What is the Spain Income Tax?

Spain's IRPF is a progressive income tax split between state and regional portions, so the exact rate varies by autonomous community. This calculator uses the common combined scale from 19% to 47%.

Employee social security is about 6.35% of salary, capped at a maximum contribution base. A personal minimum of around €5,550 is exempt, rising with age and dependants.

Formula & worked example

Taxable base = Salary − social security − personal minimum
IRPF = progressive bands 19/24/30/37/45/47%

Worked example: a €45,000 salary pays €2,858 of social security. After the €5,550 personal minimum, the taxable base is €36,593, producing IRPF of about €9,241. Net annual pay lands near €32,900, or €2,742 a month — an effective rate of 26.9%.

How to use this spain income tax calculator

  2. Adjust the personal minimum if you are over 65 or have dependants.
